Industry Partnership Program
The Industry Partnership Program is the next evolution of Queensland’s approach to industry development.
Since the $350 million Industry Partnership Program opened in June 2021, the Program has enabled industry development by facilitating private sector investment, supply chain development and the creation of jobs.
From August 2023, an additional $53.5 million Program funding will support projects that align with the Queensland new-industry development strategy which aims to develop industries that will be in demand as the world decarbonises. These industries include renewable energy manufacturing, critical minerals, battery industry development, green hydrogen, resource recovery and recycling, and the bioeconomy including biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel. The Program will also support the Queensland Biomedical 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan.
An additional $12 million will also be invested through the Program to support an upgrade to the existing facilities at the Cairns Marine Precinct to ensure the Precinct will continue to deliver as the premier marine maintenance and sustainment hub in Northern Australia for commercial, Defence and recreational industries across Australia and internationally.
With Industry Partnership Program funding now reaching $415.5 million, there is more opportunity to support projects that create economic opportunities by addressing supply chain gaps, creating sovereign capabilities, and expanding strengths across industries. Projects that have been announced include:
- Fortescue Future Industries’ green hydrogen facility near Gladstone
- Alpha HPA’s construction of a commercial plant for high purity alumina nitrate aluminium sulphate for use in lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and LED lighting.
- Queensland University of Technology 's upgrade of the Mackay renewable biocommodities pilot plant
