Residential Activation Fund

Applications for the Residential Activation Fund – round 1 are now open and will close on 23 May 2025. Submit your application on the Department's SmartyGrants portal.

The Queensland Government is delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders.

The new $2 billion Residential Activation Fund (the fund) will accelerate delivery of the critical infrastructure that is fundamental to getting more homes built sooner.

At least 50% of funding will be invested outside of South East Queensland (SEQ), across regional, rural and remote local government areas. Round 1 focuses on projects that are ready to proceed now, with $500 million of the $2 billion fund available.

About the fund

The fund is part of a range of housing initiatives being delivered, so more Queenslanders can secure a place to call home.

It provides funding to get infill and greenfield land ready for new housing developments, through the delivery of trunk and essential infrastructure, including:

  • water supply
  • sewerage
  • stormwater
  • power
  • transport e.g. roads.

By addressing these infrastructure needs, the fund ensures residential housing developments can proceed without delay.
