The Spit’s last beachfront development site hits the market

A golden opportunity for developers has presented itself on the Gold Coast’s iconic Spit, with the last beachfront site now open for development proposals.

The Spit is well-known to locals and visitors alike. The peninsula is one of the crowning jewels of the Gold Coast, sitting at the northern point of the city’s famous stretch of beach.

The site’s 152 metres of prime beach frontage is an exceptional drawcard, with a location that suits a variety of proposals, like mixed-use tourism, hospitality and short-stay accommodation.

The highly sought-after site is likely to draw international interest from development companies. CBRE Gold Coast is leading the campaign for expressions of interest, targeting investors who will add to the Spit’s allure.

In our opinion, it is the best beachfront resort accommodation site that has come to the market in the past two decades.

Naturally, proposals must adhere to The Spit’s planning regulations. This means new developments will integrate with the landscape and respect the natural values of the Spit itself.

Many projects are already well underway on the Spit. These offer something for everyone, from deep-water marina berths to picnic and recreational facilities. It’s all part of the department’s Spit Master Plan, which sets out to enhance the tourism experience at the Spit by unlocking public and private investment.

Expressions of interest to develop the beachfront site are now open on the QTenders website (ref: QT20211933) and close at 4 pm on 20 October 2021.
