Sun shines on Sunshine Butterflies with café funding

A Sunshine Coast learning café is expanding thanks to recent funding. Community organisation Sunshine Butterflies is upgrading its facilities at Cooribah, with construction of a commercial kitchen, undercover area and fencing.

Sunshine Butterflies advocates community and active participation for everyone. It provides a broad range of recreational, educational and life skills programs for individuals of all ages and abilities.

The $209,330 grant will help increase job and training opportunities for the community. The new café will also create an income stream ready to be used for development activities and fundraising events.

The funding comes thanks to the Community Infrastructure Investment Partnership program. The program invests in social infrastructure to boost community services and create local jobs.

The project is expected to be completed by December 2021, pending development application approval.
