Maryborough manufacturer sets new course

Maryborough’s Allweld Manufacturing has taken its success to the high seas with last week’s unveiling of Hervey Bay Volunteer Marine Rescue’s newest vessel, Rescue 1.

The 11.94-metre vessel is the first marine craft built by Allweld, whose operations have expanded and diversified thanks to Queensland Government support. The company’s new growth phase has created more local manufacturing jobs.

Their expansion included construction of a 462 m2 manufacturing facility accommodating a state-of-the-art paint finishing system, waterjet cutter, and associated fixtures and equipment.

It also provided secure employment for Allweld’s staff and an opportunity to recruit another 16 skilled workers and 6 apprentices.

Allweld Director Mr Josh Linwood said the company has seen a lot of growth in the past few years.

“We are diversifying our range and product offering and securing new markets. We’re so grateful for the continued support from the Queensland Government, it’s great to see them backing regional business.” - Allweld Director Mr Josh Linwood

Rescue 1 was designed and built locally in a new local manufacturing facility using Australian aluminium. It’s now ready to save lives in the local waters of Hervey Bay.

It's why investing in local manufacturing also benefits the entire region.
