Caring for the community in Kingaroy

South Burnett Care has received funding to help renovate the Avoca Street community hall, ready to meet growing community needs in Kingaroy.

The renovation will upgrade amenities for the growing number of client and community users. It will also provide clients with more access to essential services, social connections, hobbies, exercise and other activities.

The $524,760 grant comes thanks to the Community Infrastructure Investment Partnership program. The program invests in social infrastructure to boost community services and create local jobs.

South Burnett Care – or SBcare – is a not-for-profit community-based organisation. It strives to enhance the quality of life for aged or frail people, those with a disability, and their care givers. Services include an aged-care day centre, welfare support and long-term respite care for the communities of South Burnett and Toowoomba.

COVID-19 restrictions have resulted in social isolation for those in need. The renovation project will support a 30% increase in usage, helping with clients’ mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
