Torbanlea train manufacturing project
A significant boost in manufacturing jobs is expected in the Maryborough region with the construction of a purpose-built train manufacturing facility at Torbanlea. It's part of the Queensland Government’s $4.869B Queensland Train Manufacturing Program.
The program will build 65 new six-car passenger trains at the facility, with construction set to start in late 2023. It has been established to meet the increasing demand for rail transport in South East Queensland over the next 10 years.
