Future food is about applying innovative biotechnology to create, manufacture and export appealing new food products and ingredients that are nutritious and sustainable.
The Queensland Government is supporting the investigation and growth of the Future Foods industry.
Investing in Future Food
The Queensland Government is investing $1 million towards a business case to establish Queensland’s first Future Foods BioHub in Mackay.
We are engaging with industry on what they want, and the Investing in the Mackay Future Foods BioHub prospectus ( 5.9 MB) has been released to support engagement with industry.
Led by industry, the BioHub will use advanced biomanufacturing to create new food products that are healthy, sustainable and generate jobs and opportunities that complement existing industries.
Mackay’s strengths in agriculture, horticulture and manufacturing supported by established ports and infrastructure supported its selection.
