Gabba entertainment and housing precinct

A vision to transform the Gabba

The Queensland Government is working to deliver a new entertainment and housing precinct, anchored by Queensland’s premier indoor arena in Woolloongabba, Brisbane.  The project is currently in the procurement phase, engaging experienced and qualified proponents to bring this vision to life.

Site preparation works are now underway, including geotechnical drilling to test ground conditions throughout the site to support foundation designs for the new arena.

Next Steps

Following the Expression of Interest phase, two proponents have been shortlisted to develop the new precinct.

The Brisbane Entertainment Alliance Consortium, and the Gather Brisbane Consortium, were shortlisted based on their expertise in delivering and financing large‑scale infrastructure projects, operating major events and entertainment venues, and developing complex, master‑planned precincts.

These successful proponents will now advance to the Request for Detailed Proposal (RFDP) phase, with detailed design proposals expected to be submitted later this year.

The RFDP will seek comprehensive proposals that build on the capabilities demonstrated through the EOI process and encourage innovative, integrated approaches to maximising opportunities across the precinct.

The Information Memorandum ( 2.0 MB) outlines the proposed vision, and scope of the project over the next decade to create an integrated precinct.
