What is a Regional Infrastructure Plan?

Regional Infrastructure Plans provide a place-based approach to ensure regionally significant infrastructure needs are considered and prioritised to support the region as it grows and adapts to new economic opportunities. Regional Infrastructure Plans are also intended to inform the strategic planning of all levels of government, business and industry to support a more coordinated approach to sequencing and prioritising infrastructure planning and investment.

What does the Far North Queensland Infrastructure Plan cover?

The Far North Queensland Infrastructure Plan covers transport, water, energy, digital connectivity, and social and community infrastructure.

Why is it an Appendix to the draft Far North Queensland Regional Plan?

The Far North Queensland Infrastructure Plan will now have statutory weight ensuring greater integration between land use and infrastructure policies and priorities that maximise future opportunities for the region.
