Bruce Highway – Caboolture/Bribie Island Road Interchange to Steve Irwin Way Interchange Upgrade

The Bruce Highway is a vital link for general traffic, freight and tourism joining Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and central and northern Queensland. Between the Caboolture/Bribie Island Road interchange and the Steve Irwin Way interchange, the highway is a four-lane divided carriageway. This section experiences peak-period congestion, safety issues and is prone to flooding.

Building Queensland led the Caboolture/Bribie Island Road Interchange to Steve Irwin Way Interchange Upgrade Detailed Business Case in partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. The business case investigated upgrades to the 11-kilometre section of the Bruce Highway between Caboolture–Bribie Island Interchange and the Steve Irwin Way Interchange. Specifically, the business case analysed an upgrade of the existing four lane highway to a six-lane divided highway with flood and safety improvements.

The detailed business case was completed in Q2 2018.
