Updating your resume is critical and will be required for most job applications. Many council libraries offer services such as computer course training and assistance with resume writing if needed, as do Jobactive providers.

During these difficult times it is extremely important to obtain all the required support. Uniting Care, Centacare and Lifeline are organisations that provide a wide range of free services including mental health support, and we highly recommend you consider making use of their services.

Employers do have a regulatory obligation to ensure employees receive their full entitlements in the event of retrenchments. This includes payment of any outstanding leave such as annual leave, long service leave and any other leave that has been agreed to by your employer.

If Zone RV goes into liquidation and is unable to meet staff entitlements, and you qualify for support under the Australian Government’s Fair Entitlements Guarantee scheme (FEG), you can register for FEG support, which provides financial assistance to cover unpaid employment entitlements and will seek to reclaim the funds from the liquidated company in the future. Mental health support providers

The below organisations provide a range of free services including mental health and wellbeing support.

Emergency relief services

Services are available to people who are experiencing financial hardship during times of crisis.

If you, or someone you know needs emergency relief:

  • visit the Salvation Army website for information or call the Salvos financial assistance line in your state or territory
  • call the St Vincent de Paul emergency relief assistance hotline on 13 18 12 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm).

Ask Izzy is a free and anonymous way to find national and local support.

Help with finding work

  • Workforce Australia is the Australian Government’s employment service.

    If you have been retrenched, you can access support up to 3 months before your retrenchment date and for up to 6 months after. Retrenched workers’ partners who are looking for work are also eligible for support.

Financial advice and assistance

  • Uniting Care provides information, support and advocacy to assist people in financial difficulty. Uniting Care assists clients to understand their options and plan a way forward to get back on their feet.

    Financial counsellors are available with knowledge of a range of areas of law and policy, including consumer credit law, debt enforcement practices, the bankruptcy regime, industry hardship policies and government concession frameworks and an understanding of SPER debt options.

    The service is funded by the Queensland Government and is free, independent and confidential.

  • FEG may be available to eligible employees to help you get your unpaid entitlements if your employer is Bankrupt or goes into Liquidation.

  • The Redundancy Information Statement (RIS) outlines your rights and entitlements when you’ve been retrenched.

Good Shepherd now offers a local service committed to providing support to individuals and families to improve their financial wellbeing and resilience. Financial Resilience workers are available to you across 20 locations.

Training and skills development

  • The Department of Trade, Employment and Training offers a range of support for displaced employees.

    They can provide information on a range of Queensland Government subsidised training programs including Skilling Queenslanders for Work, Career Start (Certificate III level training), Career Boost (Certificate IV and higher level training), Apprenticeships and Traineeships, and Recognition of Prior Learning.

  • At TAFE Queensland, you can fast-track your way to a formal qualification by receiving recognition for the study you have completed or the skills you've gained from the workplace. We can directly apply credits from previous successful study and assess your skills to give you recognition.
