Local government and community groups

  • Fighting Illegal Dumping Partnership Program applications are open to Queensland Councils to build local government capacity to undertake illegal dumping compliance investigations through the employment of dedicated Illegal Dumping Compliance Officers, the purchase of plant and equipment and the installation of signage. Applications close 25 February 2026.
  • Zero Litter to the Bay Program provides funding to eligible South East Queensland councils located adjacent to or upstream of the Moreton Bay catchment area, for installation of filtration devices on major stormwater drains to prevent plastics and litter from entering Moreton Bay. Applications close 25 February 2026
  • Active Transport Grants Program supports Queensland councils to plan, design and construct high quality and safe active transport infrastructure (for walking and riding bikes) on the local transport network. Applications close 27 February 2026.
  • Gambling Community Benefit Fund is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program and distributes approximately $60 million each year to not-for-profit community groups, helping these groups to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities. Applications close 28 February 2026.
  • Active Transport Grants Program supports Queensland councils to plan, design and construct high quality and safe active transport infrastructure on the local transport network. Applications close 27 February 2026.
  • Queensland Small Business Month - Event Delivery Grant offers $2,500 funding for locally delivered events in regional and remote Queensland. Applications close 5 March 2026.
  • Youth Week grants funding to design and deliver impactful community events during Queensland Youth Week 2026 (11–19 April 2026). Applicants must be aged 12-25 years and partnered with a local community group or organisation. Applications close 22 February 2026.
  • Secure Communities Partnership Program offers funding to support safety measures to deter crime against small and family businesses and create safer and more vibrant business areas. Applications close 30 June 2026,
  • Strengthening Rural Communities – Small and Vital Stream gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities. Applications close 24 March 2026.
  • Strengthening Rural Communities – Prepare & Recover Stream supports communities in remote, rural and regional communities across Australia to implement initiatives that prevent and prepare for future climate related impacts, or recover from existing disasters in the medium to long-term timeframe, generally one to ten years after the disaster. Applications close 24 March 2026.
  • Let’s Get it Sorted Partnership Program provides funding for groups of geographically aligned Queensland councils, or lead councils for a Queensland region, to engage a behaviour change coordinator to develop and deliver waste education and behaviour change intervention activities for households.
  • Snapshot Climate tool provides greenhouse gas emissions profiles for Australian councils (local government areas), regions, federal electorates, states and territories which are free to download.
