State Infrastructure Strategy
The Queensland Government is currently reviewing its State Infrastructure Strategy following the release of the Queensland Productivity Commission (QPC) report into construction sector productivity.
QPC highlighted historic failures in government project selection and sequencing, recommending better prioritisation and coordination of public infrastructure projects in Queensland. The Queensland Government’s response committed to a strengthened role for Queensland’s infrastructure department, and related to this, a suite of targeted reforms contemplated to span the areas of:
- supporting stronger governance and assurance (including advice to decision-makers)
- driving greater coordination and oversight (including 10-year planning, market analysis, improving pipeline visibility)
- enhancing productivity and efficiency (including accelerating adoption of MMC, digital tools and other innovations)
- expanding project facilitation and advice.
These targeted reforms will be explored alongside of the review of the State Infrastructure Strategy, along with working closely with industry partners and other levels of government to drive innovation, investment and efficiency across the construction industry.
Infrastructure helps ensure Queenslanders can access the high-quality services they need and enables our ongoing and future economic prosperity. The Queensland Government is planning and delivering the infrastructure Queenslander’s need now and into the future, including through:
- The 2032 Delivery Plan sets out the plan to deliver a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as deliver legacy infrastructure for years to come.
- The Hospital Rescue Plan funds critical assets to deliver more than 2,600 new beds.
- The Queensland Energy Roadmap 2025 focuses on delivering affordable reliable energy for all Queenslanders.
- The Destination 2045 plan will position our state as a global leader in tourism, supporting richer visitor experiences, more jobs and better infrastructure.
- Prosper 2050, is the Queensland Government’s 25-year blueprint for Queensland's primary industries.
- The Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2025-26 to 2028-29 outlines the current and planned investment in road and transport infrastructure for delivery over the 4-year period.
