Six ways to make the most of Brisbane’s newest precinct
Brisbane is on a transformational journey evolving into a more connected, sustainable, and accessible city for everyone.
- queens wharf brisbane
At the heart of this change is Queen’s Wharf Brisbane (QWB) – a vibrant destination that brings together stunning public spaces, rich cultural heritage, and world-class attractions.
Now that the public spaces are open, you can enjoy Brisbane's inner city like never before. Stroll along scenic riverfront walkways, relax in green spaces, and take in stunning city views. Whether you're a local looking for a new place to unwind or a visitor excited to see the latest landmark, QWB has something for everyone.
Here are six must-visit spots to help you make the most of this exciting new precinct:
1. Mangrove Walk
If you’re walking from the Queensland University of Technology’s Botanic Gardens, or stepping off the CityCat, your journey begins on Mangrove Walk. This dedicated pedestrian boardwalk offers a scenic and immersive experience, winding through lush mangroves and linking Goodwill Bridge to the Queen’s Wharf precinct.
Stretching 450 metres, the walkway blends nature with culture, featuring interpretative heritage and integrated story-telling elements that provide an enjoyable alternate connection from the Botanic Gardens to the Queen’s Wharf precinct.
Highlights of Mangrove Walk:
- an Indigenous message trail designed in collaboration with the Turrbal and Jaggera Indigenous communities
- an exploratory trail with educational installations and interpretive signage
- a series of landings and lookouts with shaded seating nooks to enjoy the view
- an elevated pavilion with views along the Brisbane River.
2. Waterline Park
At the end of Mangrove Walk outside 1 William Street, you’ll find Waterline Park, a vibrant riverside recreation hub. This green space caters to both weekday workers looking for a quick escape and families seeking active fun on weekends.
Things to enjoy at Waterline Park:
- a climbing wall for adventurous visitors
- table tennis facilities for some friendly competition
- outdoor exercise equipment with soft-fall surfaces
- green tropical gardens creating a peaceful retreat
- terraced seating areas overlooking the river
- a dedicated lane for cyclists linking to the Bicentennial Bikeway via Alice Street.
3. The Landing and Finger Wharves
As you continue your walk back toward the CBD, you won’t be able to miss The Landing. A ‘green wharf’ featuring a series of grassy areas linking to Queen’s Wharf Plaza, The Landing is a space that integrates the precinct, city and river. This lively space offers grassy picnic areas, terraced seating by the waterfront, and a brand-new playground for the young (and young at heart).
Just a short stroll away, the Finger Wharves provide a prime vantage point to watch boats cruise up and down the Brisbane River, making it an ideal spot to pause and soak in the city’s dynamic waterfront.
4. Sky Deck
No visit to Queen’s Wharf is complete without taking in the breathtaking 360-degree views from Sky Deck. Located on level 23 of the precinct’s signature arc-shaped building, this free public attraction sits 100 metres above the Brisbane River and offers one of the best vantage points in the city.
Stretching 250 metres across the rooftop and featuring a glass viewing platform (if you dare!), Sky Deck is home to a selection of restaurants and bars, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal or drink with a spectacular backdrop.

5. Leisure Deck
On your way down from the Sky Deck on level 23, stop off on level 7 to explore the Leisure Deck.
Perched 35 metres above street level between QWB’s four towers, the Leisure Deck features over 12,000 sqm or two football fields of open green space in Brisbane’s CBD and is an impressive area for everyone to enjoy.
Regular events on the Leisure Deck:
- Skyline Cinema: On Wednesday evenings at 6pm, enjoy a movie under the stars from a comfy beanbag. Find information about upcoming movies and tickets on the cinema’s website.
- Leisure Deck Live: From 4pm on Fridays and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays, make the most of sunny afternoons and watch sports on the big screen, try your hand at classic lawn games or relax and listen to live music. Find out what’s coming up.
6. Miller Park
Need a quiet escape from the energy of the riverfront? Miller Park offers a serene green space connecting William Street to Queen’s Wharf Road. With grassy terraces, shaded seating, and sweeping views of the Brisbane River, it’s the perfect place to unwind or meet friends before continuing your adventure.
When you’re ready to explore further, take a scenic stroll over the Neville Bonner pedestrian bridge to South Bank Parklands, where even more of Brisbane’s inner-city charm awaits.
