The 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games are a once in a generation opportunity to transform our state, and the impact will be felt right across Queensland.
Major Games venues and hundreds of regional sporting facilities will be upgraded, strengthening the backbone of local communities and nurturing potential home-grown future-Olympians and Paralympians.
The 2032 Delivery Plan outlines just how our regions will see the legacy of the Games come to life. Take a look at the snapshot below and head to Delivering2032.com.au for more information.
Cairns
Cairns will be better connected with upgrades to the Western Arterial Road, while welcoming events at the Convention Centre, and an upgraded Barlow Park Stadium.
Townsville
Townsville will see sailing come to its beautiful waterfront, and football to its world-class stadium, as well as key upgrades north and south on the Bruce Highway.
Rockhampton
Rockhampton will host Rowing and Canoe Sprint at the Rockhampton Flatwater Facility on the mighty Fitzroy River, with a new athlete village being built at a revitalised rail yards precinct.
Mackay Whitsundays
In Mackay Whitsundays, extensive upgrades to the Bruce Highway at Goorganga Plains will help a growing region stay connected and an upgraded Harrup Park will be ready to host Games events. The beautiful Whitsundays will also co-host sailing.
Wide Bay Burnett

Statewide
In addition to local infrastructure investment, communities right across Queensland will benefit from:
- Destination 2045: Queensland’s Tourism Future – a 20-year plan to harness the beauty of every corner of Queensland, and deliver new tourism offerings
- Investment in grassroots sport through the GamesOn! funding program, providing the resources needed to enhance regional sporting and community facilities for our next generation of Queensland athletes.
