BUSHkids helping kids
BUSHkids has been supporting children and families in Queensland’s regional, rural and remote communities for over 80 years. Now, thanks to a $481,090 grant, the organisation’s services are set to be boosted to help even more people.
The Royal Queensland Bush Children’s Health Scheme – also known as BUSHkids – received funding under the Community Infrastructure Investment Partnership program. These funds will help deliver a dedicated centre at Toowong, ready to provide telehealth services for children living in regional areas.
The not-for-profit organisation provides a range of preventive and early intervention services across Bundaberg, Dalby, Emerald, Mount Isa and Warwick. This includes speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists and family health support workers.
The new TeleBUSHkids Centre will reduce waitlist times. It will also bring more access to allied health services, and build community and local workforce capacity. It’s about providing social infrastructure to stimulate job creation, grow the economy and create connected communities in Queensland.
The project is expected to be completed by March 2022.
