Priority Growth Areas legislation
Initial work in Caboolture West highlighted various issues:
- lack of structure planning
- land holdings in multiple ownerships
- challenges with the rollout and funding of infrastructure.
These challenges are common to most growth fronts in South East Queensland.
Changes to the Planning Act 2016 will be introduced to help deal with these problems and deliver better planning outcomes for new population growth locations in South East Queensland.
This will provide certainty for a collaborative approach between the Queensland Government and local government to ensure better planned communities.
The new legislation will also formally recognise Caboolture West as a Priority Growth Area so it can benefit from the legislation.
