2019–21 Works for Queensland program
The $600 million Works for Queensland (W4Q) program supports regional councils to undertake job-creating maintenance and minor infrastructure projects.
$200 million was allocated to 65 Councils outside of South East Queensland in 2016–17, $200 million in 2017–19, and $200 million approved to extend the W4Q program until 2019–21.
The Queensland Government has amended the 2019–21 W4Q Progam Guidelines to allow 19 Councils to access unspent W4Q funding for COVID-19 related expenses. Please refer to appendix 4 of the 2019–21 W4Q Program Guidelines for the list of eligible councils.
The allocation is to be spent on job-creating maintenance and minor infrastructure projects relating to assets owned or controlled by council. Eligible councils should place emphasis on providing jobs for young people (15 to 24 years) in the ‘not in employment, education or training’ (NEET) category.
Councils subject to COVID-19 related bio-security declarations, may request to vary their endorsed 2019-21 W4Q projects to allow COVID-19 related expenses to be funded from unspent W4Q allocations. Please refer to appendix 4 of the 2019-21 W4Q Program Guidelines for a list of eligible councils and related information.
