The opportunity to redevelop the Police-Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) site at Fortitude Valley is being offered to the private sector.

Since 1965 the PCYC has been playing an important role in fostering the development of local young people through a range of services and programs, including sport, youth leadership and crime-prevention.

The facility, located at 458 Wickham Street, is over 50 years old and the government is now seeking to work with a private sector proponent to deliver a new PCYC that will bring jobs during construction, improved services to those who use the facility and better outcomes for the broader community.

Detailed proposals stage

The second stage of a two-stage competitive process is now underway.

Following an Expression of Interest campaign, two shortlisted proponents have been invited to submit detailed proposals for the development opportunity.

The Request for Detailed Proposals was released to the two parties on 3 May 2017 and closed on 31 July 2017. Proposals are currently being assessed.

The aim of the process will be to identify a preferred proponent to deliver a new PCYC facility for the community, in exchange for development rights on the existing site.

A preferred proponent is expected to be identified following a review of the detailed proposals in third quarter 2017.
