Parklands

Key details

The 29-hectare Parklands Priority Development Area (PDA) is three kilometres from Southport CBD and 3.6 kilometres east of the Pacific Motorway.

It adjoins the Gold Coast University Hospital, the Southport Sharks Football Club and Musgrave Park.

The Parklands PDA was declared to facilitate development of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Village and legacy development related to the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.

The PDA was declared on 1 February 2013.

Development scheme

The development scheme is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.

The Parklands PDA Development Scheme (PDF icon 982 KB) commenced on 6 December 2013.

Note: Economic Development Act 2012 amendments have changed the interpretation of PDA exempt and PDA self-assessable development. More information.

Development assessment

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) assesses development applications for this PDA.

All development applications are assessed against the development scheme.

Development project

Lumina is an EDQ development project that is located within the Parklands PDA and forms part of the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.
