Blackwater East

Key details

The Blackwater East Priority Development Area (PDA) is located east of the existing Blackwater township and north of the Capricorn Highway. It adjoins the existing Blackwater Priority Development Area.

The land is currently vacant and covers an area of approximately 130 hectares.

The PDA was declared on 21 June 2013 at the request of Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC).

Development scheme

The development scheme is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.

The Blackwater East PDA Development Scheme (PDF icon 1.25 MB) commenced on 24 April 2014.

Development assessment

Central Highlands Regional Council assesses development applications for this PDA.

All existing development approvals remain in effect. Changes to approved applications are to be lodged with CHRC.

All new development applications are to be lodged with CHRC. Details on the lodgement process can be provided by CHRC.

Development applications are assessed against the development scheme.

Infrastructure

Funding and building infrastructure is key to facilitating development within PDAs and is outlined in the Infrastructure Funding Framework ( 1.4 MB).
