The Queensland Government has commissioned an independent consultation program to seek the views of community members, community organisations and local businesses about how best to rejuvenate and permanently protect public open space on The Spit.
The Queensland Government would like community members, community organisations and local businesses to nominate the attributes they desire for The Spit parkland and provide their views on how best to plan for and manage its long term future.
This process will also consider relevant previous consultation that has been undertaken. Donaldson Consulting Group will collate the feedback and commentary and prepare reports for stakeholders and the community, and for the Queensland Government.

Feedback and commentary will be collated in reports for stakeholders and the community, and for the Queensland Government.
The Queensland Government is seeking input on how to best improve the northern end of The Spit and to protect the popular landmark as public amenity space in perpetuity.View the area map.
In addition to improvements planned and underway for Doug Jennings Park, this may include planting of native vegetation, well defined and maintained walking trails and better community facilities.
