The final two consortia bidding for the Queen's Wharf Brisbane Integrated Resort Development lodged their final bids to government for assessment on Friday 22 May 2015. The lodgement marked the penultimate stage with a decision on the preferred proponent set to be announced by the Government in late July this year.

Benefits to Queensland

Queen's Wharf Brisbane will offer substantial benefits to the community including enhanced riverside public spaces, active entertainment precincts and deliver one of the world's best tourism destinations.

When fully operational, Queen's Wharf Brisbane will include improved connections with South Bank, five and six star hotels, boutique retail stores, signature restaurants and bars, a marketplace, laser and light shows, a cinema, water based activities and a showcase of festivals and concerts.

Job creation

Queen's Wharf Brisbane will provide economic development opportunities for Queensland with the creation of around 3000 jobs during construction and in excess of 8000 jobs when operations commence.

Employment opportunities during construction could include a range of planning, design and engineering professions, property and project managers, and a full suite of construction jobs including form-workers, electricians, plumbers and tilers, etc.

When fully operational Queen's Wharf Brisbane will not only provide employment opportunities for tourism, entertainment and hospitality employees, but for local suppliers and food and beverage producers as well. There will also be an ongoing requirement for tradespeople and many other professions involved in the management and maintenance of the facilities and the precinct.

Training opportunities

Queen's Wharf Brisbane will deliver educational opportunities for the next generation of tourism and hospitality employees providing long-term careers and employment for local residents.
