The first load of fill was today delivered to the North Queensland Stadium project site in a statement making bright pink truck marking an important project milestone and acknowledging the role women play in the construction industry.
Managing Contractor for the project, Watpac, estimates more than 90,000 cubic metres of fill will be moved to the site before civil works are completed in late 2017.
Local civil sub-contractor for the project, Mendi Constructions, unveiled the new addition to their fleet as part of their Mendi Think Pink Week Campaign in August.
This campaign seeks to promote the profile of women in the industry while raising funds for the Sky Foundation who assist women and children fleeing domestic violence and Unlock the Lachs who assist families with children who have special needs.
The North Queensland Stadium is a joint project of the Queensland Government, the Australian Government and Townsville City Council is supported by both the National Rugby League (NRL) and the North Queensland Cowboys. The North Queensland Stadium forms part of the Townsville City Deal signed in 2016.
