Guideline: master planning for priority ports

The Queensland Government has released a guideline (PDF icon 2.6 MB) to support master planning for priority ports—Gladstone, Abbot Point, Townsville, Hay Point/Mackay.

The guideline is in accordance with the Sustainable Ports Development Act 2015 and marks the delivery of a key port-related action of the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan by the state government.

The guideline outlines a strategic framework for implementing priority port master planning and represents a non-statutory reference for all stakeholders including priority ports, all levels of government, industry and the community.

The guideline is being applied by the Queensland Government as it advances priority port master planning processes with consideration to the individual circumstances of each priority port and their surrounding areas.

The guideline has been developed in consultation with key stakeholders and the community, following a period of public consultation in early 2016 on a draft version. View the report on public consultation (PDF icon 2.6 MB).
