The project will be staged between November 2017 and December 2020 and will include:

  1. The refurbishment of the heritage listed Jacaranda and Silky Oak Houses to provide workplace accommodation, training facilities and associated carparking.
  2. The delivery of a training facility inclusive of:
    • a life-like scenario village
    • a firearms training facility
    • a simunition training facility (simulation facility)
    • stage one of a central energy facility
    • onsite carparking and other external works.

The project team will be completing engagement with key stakeholders during planning and construction to ensure the Counter Terrorism and Community Safety Centre meets the needs of the Queensland Police Service in addressing counter-terrorism and public safety now and into the future.

The Wacol facility was formerly the site of the John Oxley Memorial Hospital and has been repurposed from Queensland Health for an integrated police facility known as ‘Westgate Police Complex’.

The Public Safety Business Agency (PBSA) is managing the delivery of the Counter Terrorism and Community Safety Centre on behalf of Queensland Police Service in collaboration with the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning.
