Constructing the Chinchilla Washdown Bay (courtesy of Western Downs Regional Council)
The project constructed a new washdown bay at Chinchilla to remove weed seeds from resource industry and agricultural vehicles. The washdown bay will replace an existing facility that is in a poor state of repair due to overuse pressures resulting from resource industry growth. The new facility will contain important environmental improvements, including a number of contemporary environmental controls such as water treatment and recycling. The provision of washdown facilities and services is critical to address the heightened risk of weed/seed spread due to the increase in resources sector activity in the region. This will help to protect both the region’s biodiversity and the local agriculture industry.
