The township of Ilfracombe’s water supply will be assured in times of drought when a new bore is constructed to supplement current supply, improving liveability for the local community.
The ongoing drought has reduced the availability of surface water and the existing bore is in poor condition. This project will construct a new bore and associated infrastructure (pump station, cooling towers, water mains) to provide an adequate water supply as well as capacity for growth in residential and commercial development. The bore will be drilled to a depth that would enable a geothermal unit to be constructed in the future.
