- Council: Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council
- Fund: Remote and Indigenous Communities Fund
- Category: Cultural, Sports and Recreational Infrastructure
- Round: 2
The young Indigenous people of Napranum will gain a much-needed leisure and recreational gathering space with an extension to the community’s existing PCYC building.
Informal and ongoing discussions with Napranum’s young people identified the need for a targeted diversional space.
Set up similar to an outdoor patio, a lockable indoor/outdoor area with a seamless flow will be created using trees, mounds of soil, garden beds/walls, strategically placed umbrellas, shrubs, cement slab, roof, fencing and sails connected to the existing PCYC building.
The finished "garden" will be a social club space and will offer diversional activities and themes to suit all ages, allowing different age groups to pursue age appropriate activities simultaneously.
