Residents of East Mackay will have increased flood immunity when upgrades are made to existing drainage systems.
The project involves the construction of eight box culverts with associated tide gates at the upstream end of the existing detention basin, increasing the capacity of connection between the East Mackay Main Drain and the detention basin. Works will also include excavation of an open channel through the existing sand dunal area and outlet into the ocean.
