The Villa Street, Yeronga site is a five hectare parcel of land at the corner of Villa Street and Park Road that has been identified as a potential key urban renewal opportunity under the state government’s Advancing our cities and regions (AOCR) strategy.
This strategy provides an innovative approach to renewal and repurposing surplus and underutilised state land to deliver better community outcomes, create jobs and drive economic growth.
The former TAFE site has been substantially vacant since 2010 after it was deemed underperforming and placed on the government land register as surplus to the Department of Education and Training’s future needs.
Economic Development Queensland has been consulting with the local community, several local service providers and not-for-profit groups and the Yeronga State High School to determine their needs and aspirations for the future land use of the site.
Located near an arterial road network and rail and bus services, the unused land offers the potential to deliver community, residential and employment outcomes that meet market demands and address the current and future needs of our growing city.
