The Statement of Business Ethics provides guidance and instruction for the private sector on the behaviours expected when doing business with our department, and ensures the department's business relationships are based on a mutual understanding of the public sector ethics principles and standards we uphold as Government representatives.

The purpose of the Statement is to:

  • outline the department's ethical standards and our expectation that parties we do business with will comply with these standards in their dealings with our department, and
  • explain the mutual obligations, roles and constraints of all parties.

Compliance with this Statement supports our values and decision making that is in the public interest. It also considerably reduces the risk of inappropriate business activities and actual or perceived conflicts of interest occurring.
